Adjectives can be used with these modifiers:
muy elegante =elegancia 10
bastante elegante = elegancia 8
elegante = elegancia 6
poco elegante = elegancia 3
nada elegante = elegancia 0
In order to soften a negative quality, you can use un poco (a Little bit):
Mi madre es un poco gorda – My mother is a little bit fat
Su novio es un poco feo – Her boyfriend is a little bit ugly
