Spanish for beginners 2

How does he look like?– ¿Cómo es? > Los piropos – Compliments

Spanish like to say piropos (compliments). Los piropos te alegran el día (make you happy). The most typical piropos are about your appearance
(físico, aspecto):

¡Estás muy guapo! / ¡Estás muy guapa! – You are so beautiful
¡Qué guapo/a vienes!
¡Estás estupendo/a! – You look
great

Te queda muy bien este vestido – This dress suits you very well

Este jersey/vestido/... es muy mono
– This sweater/dress/... is very cute

As to a character (carácter) the most loable quality in Spain is to be majo (nice, sociable, pleasant).
In Latin America you should use the word lindo/linda:

Eres muy majo/maja (España) – You are so good/nice/pleasant...
Eres muy lindo/linda (América Latina) – You are so good/nice/pleasant...

You can also underline the kindness and goodness:

Eres muy bueno/buena – You are so kind

Eres un sol
– You are so lovely /You are a sun

The word "beautiful" can be translated as bonito (neutral,
used in Spain and in Latin America) or mono (colloquial). Speaking about people in Spain, you will use guapo/guapa (a really handsome) or
mono/mona (pretty but not so cute):

– Tu secretaria es muy guapa.

– Es mona, sí, pero guapa, no.

Both in Spain and in Latin America lovely and beautiful things, landscapes or even people are precioso:

Esta película es preciosa – This is a lovely film

Este lugar es precioso – This place is precious
Tus hijas son preciosas – Your daughters are precious

In Latin America instead of guapo and mono are used: bello, lindo, chévere, hermoso.
