Trabajo. Profesiones. – Job and professions > Arranging to meet

If we want to see somebody, we arrange to meet her. Well, the whole
expression "to arrange to meet" or "settle on" should be translated to Spanish
by a verb quedar. Easy, isn´t it? In Latin America
people prefer to use verse:

¿Cómo quedamos? (España) = ¿Dónde y cuándo nos vemos? – How
can we settle on? Where and when shall we meet?
¿A qué hora quedamos? (España) = ¿A qué hora nos vemos?
– What time shall we meet?
¿Dónde quedamos? (España) = ¿Dónde nos vemos?

– Where shall we meet?

We can suggest a place and time:

¿Qué tal a las seis y media en mi casa? – How about meeting at 6.30 in my house?
¿Qué te parece a las ocho en el bar Arturo?
–
Is it convenient for you
at 8 in the Arturo bar?
¿Te viene bien a las 10 en la universidad? – Is it Ok at 10 in the University?

In order to negotiate you can use venir bien (be convenient) and preferir (prefer):

A las 10 me viene mal – At 10 I can´t
Me viene mejor a las 10 y media
– It´s better for me at 10.30
(La verdad es que) prefiero a las 10 y media
–
(Honestly) I prefer at 10.30

Finally you can repeat the time and the place you have just arranged:

– Entonces nos vemos mañana en la universidad – So, we´ll meet tomorrow in the
University
– Perfecto, hasta mañana
– Great, see you tomorrow
